With the construction of a publicly accessible bridge for pedestrians a connection between the IST Campus and the IST Park via the federal road in Maria Gugging (Klosterneuburg) is created.
The pedestrian bridge is designed as a three-dimensionally curved steel structure and consists of a deck bridge and a ramp running below. The two bridges merge into a joint structure in the area of the western abutment. The maximum free span of the deck bridge is approx. 45 m.
The trough-shaped bridge cross-section is designed as a closed steel box consisting of thin, stiffened sheets. The short end fields on the shared abutment and on the abutment of the ramp ensure that economic restraint is achieved. The resulting flow of forces is reflected in the architectural design.
